Have grown these for 5 years on heavy clay soils and I think they're the best early, if not the earliest. A good yield of new potatoes each time. They like a bit of insulation from the cold clay so a good bedding of newspaper, shredded bank statements and egg cartons warms their toes in late March/ early April.

Over the last two seasons, these have become our favourite potato variety. If you're hoping for that unique taste, you are rewarded if you dig early.
