Picasso Seed Potatoes (Maincrop)

Go Back

Superb! Bred from Cara, matures early September - up to 3 weeks sooner. The large, slightly russeted oval tubers have a rosy pink eye.

Huge crops of uniform 'bakers' with a good flavour which also mash well. Very easy to grow, suits most soils. Good pest and disease resistance.

Thoroughly recommended!

Perfect roasters with no blight damage when others on the plot perished.

My first year on the allotment and did not have a clue what to plant or when.I decided to try the Piccasso seed potatoes and now I am the envy of the other very experienced allotmenteers. They did what it said on the tin and produced pounds of good size.clean and cream potatoes ideal for roasting etc. I will certainly be buying these next time and so will the the other allotmenteers.

I have never grown Picasso before this year but, on recommendation from my neighbour, I decided to give them a try. As my son-in-law keeps a considerable number of quail we decided to try using the manure on the veg patch & are very pleased to say that we have had a bumper crop of Picasso potatoes approx 150kg from 2kg of seed potatoes. Wonderful!!!

Our first year on an allotment and never grown potatoes before and we loved the taste of the picassos. I really could not believe I was so animated about a potato but these bake unbelievably well and roast beautifully. They were incredibly straight forward to grow too. Didn't plan to grow any potatos as I've tasted other home grown varieties and I'll be honest didn't think they were any better ... [more]

I've never grown maincrop potatoes before and have limited space. I managed to squeeze a few directly into the ground but placed the rest in large deep tubs and dustbins. The results were good and very tasty. I had to cut down the foliage and then harvest early due to blight but still got some large spuds which stored well.

We have been buying piccasso potatos from Marshalls for a few years now and have never been let down. Even 2008 when the allotments we are on got blight ..our Piccasso were great. 2009 was the best year yet with yealds beyond expectations.
