Allium Globemaster - Allium Bulbs Growing Chart
- Plant Outdoors
Cut spent stems once flowers have faded (unless you want the dried flowerheads to use as decoration) but leave the bulbs undisturbed to reappear next season.
I love these large flowers and after a long time ornamental seed heads appear. Very sculptural
Allium Globemaster - Allium Bulbs
Huge globe-shaped flowers on tall stems
One of the largest of the allium bulbs flowers, Globemaster's flower clusters are up to 20cm in diameter, each containing hundreds of dainty star-shaped flowers.
These alliums are guaranteed to give a memorable display whether planted in among summer flowering plants such as roses or herbaceous perennials or weaving through grasses in a prairie style planting scheme.
Allium 'Globemaster' also look fabulous in formal schemes; their stout stems and imposing drumstick outlines combine well with low box hedging or clipped shrubs or plant them into troughs or large containers.
Bees love their flower-packed drumsticks and the spent blooms remain looking good long after the flowers have faded.
Plant alliums at roughly twice their depth into free draining soil in a sunny spot. They will come back every year with minimum fuss and maximum effect!
