Sowing Indoors
Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost in a tray but DO NOT cover the seeds with more compost.
Place in warmth at 15-20C (60-70F). Keep moist. Cover tray with cling film but remove this as soon as seedlings start to emerge.
Growing on / thinning
Keep seedlings in the light but out of direct sunlight. When large enough to handle transplant 5cm / 2in apart in trays of potting compost or individually into 7cm / 3in pots.
Hardening off / planting
Harden off for 2-3 weeks before planting out when the danger of frost has passed. Space 15cm / 6in apart for bedding, a bit closer together in tubs or baskets.
