Carnation Early Flowering Mixed
Probably the best carnation mixture from seed.
Soft pastel shades combine with brighter shades, white striped and picoteed forms help to produce a stunning display.
The fully double blooms are so sweetly scented and borne on long, strong stems.

Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in warmth at 10-15C (50-60F) and keep moist.
Growing on / thinning
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from bright sun. When large enough to handle transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost.
Hardening off / planting
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out from early summer onwards. Allow 30cm (12in) between plants.
Special note
Carnation flowers are edible. Sprinkle petals over salads for a splash of colour!
