Chamomile

Go Back

Growing herbs from seed is so easy!

Grow them in the border among your flowers, in a special herb bed, or simply in pots by the back door. You can even grow some on your kitchen windowsill. They are easy to dry and even easier to freeze.

Chamomile produces pretty daisy-like flowers with yellow centres and feathery foliage, with an apple fragrance when crushed.

Makes a delicious soothing tea!

Not suitable for use as a lawn. Happily grows in most soils in the sun.

growing information

Sowing Outdoors

Rake soil to provide a firm, even surface.  Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil, lightly covering them with a little more soil.

Sowings made in semi-circular lines create a natural 'drift' effect.  Keep moist until seedlings appear and as required in dry spells.

Growing on / thinning

When large enough to handle, thin seelings to allow their development and to prevent overcrowding.

Special note

This chamomile is NOT suitable for making into a chamomile lawn.
