Sowing Indoors
Almost fill 12cm (5in) pots with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost.
Put pot into a thick polythene bag and place it in the main compartment of a refrigerator, where germination will take place sporadically from between three and five months.
Transplant seedlings as they appear, individually into small pots of compost.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow seed in a pot as directed. Do not put it into a bag, but place it in a cold frame. Germination should occur the following spring after seed has been exposed to winter frosts.
Growing on / thinning
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from bright sun.
Hardening off / planting
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out when they are well established. Allow 30cm (12in) between plants.
Special note
Ideal for cutting
