Fennel which is most popular in Italy from where it was introduced does have a habit of flowering rapidly if conditions are not quite hot enough. But if grown in correct conditions will produce a superb flower and tasty crop of aniseed flavoured bulbs.

When harvesting cut the bulbs off just above the ground and leave the remainder in the ground and this will produce feathery shoots.
