Gladiolus - communis ssp. byzantinus
An amazingly popular species from the Mediterranean region.
Striking, intense crimson-purple flowers contrast with glossy green leaves, a real stunner wherever it is planted!
Flowering from early June, it prefers sun and good drainage. Although the corms are fully hardy, it is advisable to mulch to protect new growth from late spring frost.
Excellent for cutting.
