Iris reticulata - Iris Bulbs
Iris reticulata produce stunning flowers on strong upright stems.
A good reliable species iris bulb, the lovely velvety mauve-blue flowers have a flash along the centre and are very striking.
Their compact size makes dwarf irises perfect for planting closely in containers but they look equally good in the border or planted in rockeries or scree beds.
Plant the small bulbs quite deeply; around three times their depth, into free-draining soil in the border or in containers. Irises prefer a sunny or part-shaded site to give the best show of flowers.
Deadhead spent blooms and allow foliage to die down naturally once flowering ends. This helps to divert goodness back to the bulb for a great display next year.
Flowers: Feb - March.
