£6.99 each

  • Varieties suitables for cutting
  • Varieties good as dried flowers
  • Will flower well in full sun
  • Hardy Perennial - sow indoors or on a seedbed (April-June); transplant later to flower for many seasons
  • Attracts Bees

Loved by the bees this old variety of monarda is still one of the best for a shot of crimson in the border. The intriguingly shaped flowers are packed with nectar so they are perfect for a wildlife friendly garden. Mix with other cottage garden perennials such as leucanthemum and penstemons for a traditional herbaceous border.

Plant in spring and early summer into soil that stays reliably moist. Monardas can suffer from mildew in dry soil.

After care

Cut off spent flower heads as they fade to prolong the display.
