Onion Showmaster
Showmaster Onions need no introduction for our regular Exhibition Growers. These have become a great favourite with our customers who want earlier, larger onions.
With a bit of extra care and attention these onions can reach massive proportions, up to 4lbs/2kg each!
As well as producing extra large bulbs, they have a very mild, sweetish flavour similar to Spanish onion types.
Special Note: They are raised early, under carefully controlled conditions so that they really speed ahead. We then deliver them to you in early/mid April ready to pot up into 3.5in/9cm pots. Harden off in a cold frame and plant out end of April/early May.

Showmaster onions - which are always a delight
Harvested the onions this weekend 26th Aug. A good crop - all 25 onions survived and all but 2 weigh over 1 lb, the largest are about 2lb. They may have grown a bit more but I didnt want to risk rotting due to the damp weather that we are now having in NE Scotland. Drying and ripening them in the greenhouse now. Very pleased with the crop.
Received my plants on Saturday 2nd May - excellent plants , well packaged, all now doing well in pots! I have high hopes of these as I grew some of these from sets several years ago and had great results.
May 1st, and still waiting for delivery,was hoping to enter them in our allotment show which is early August,If and when they arrive it will be interesting to see if they will be ready in time.Having won prizes for our onions in the past I was hopeful for great things this year.Watch this space
