Tips & Advice:
Sowing Indoors
Sow thinly in trays of firm pre-watered compost and lightly cover with vermiculite or sieved compost. Place in warmth (15-20°C) and keep moist at all times. Seeds can take several weeks to germinate.
Growing On
Plants can be moved outside in late spring and summer, acclimatising them gradually. If growing in containers, choose a pot at least 20cm in diameter.
Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2 to 3 weeks before planting out when the danger of frost has passed. Alternatively, keep pots on a bright windowsill.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow thinly, 1cm deep, direct in harvest position. Thin seedlings to 20cm apart. Keep soil moist at all times. Allow several weeks for germination. Alternatively, sow in containers of 20cm diameter or larger.
Advice
Pick regularly, cutting stems at the base. Although a biennial, it is usually grown as an annual. Ideally sow in successive batches to give a continuous supply.
