Quince 'Serbian Gold' 9L

£29.95 each

  • Good in pots and containers
  • Will flower well in full sun
  • Hardy Perennial - sow indoors or on a seedbed (April-June); transplant later to flower for many seasons

Besides its excellent fruiting qualities, this variety has ornamental value with masses of attractive pink flowers in early spring. Earlier ripening season of late September than most varieties. On semi-dwarfing rootstock, this makes a perfect patio container tree.

You can use quince for culinary purposes or as fragrant decoration. Simply place individual fruits in a bowl and the fragrance will slowly be released into the bowl’s surroundings.

Water mornings and evenings from mid spring through to autumn and feed with a high potash feed when flowers turn into fruits to boost the fruiting process.

Prune out dead, diseased or damaged branches only, to keep the tree healthy and well-ventilated and with an attractive framework of branches.

In the first or second spring after its first year, transfer to a larger container as the tree grows, introducing John Innes No 3 compost which is a rich soil containing a wealth of nutrients.
