Raspberry Black Jewel

This variety is set to be a hit – with so many health benefits it’s a must for any home-grower wanting to harvest vitamin-rich berries from June. As juicy as blackberries but with the perfumed flavour of raspberries, the fruits are lovely to eat fresh from the plant or added to smoothies rich in antioxidants and vitamins.

Saskatoon

A North-American blueberry-like plant producing highly-nutritious edible berries from June. Plants give masses of vitamin-rich berries in the summer, said to have a unique, sharp yet refreshing flavour. Gorgeous autumn-leaf colour.

Goji

Produces masses of red berries which can be eaten fresh, cooked or dried. Plants withstand drought and windy conditions. Water well in summer and feed with a high-potassium fertiliser once it flowers in summer. Fruit grows on one-year old wood so prune fruited stems hard back and tie in leafy shoots which will fruit the following year.

Honeyberry

A compact and productive berry-forming shrub with a flavour crossed between a raspberry and a blueberry! Originally from Siberia, honeyberries are particularly hardy and easy to grow.

Your bare-root Saskatoon

Bare-root plants are perfect for you to plant in the ground or in containers anytime from autumn to spring.

The head of leaves and stems will burst into leaf and flower from next spring, and a good root network which will establish in the ground over winter.

Water the root area of your bare-root rose on arrival. Try to plant straight away but if this is not possible your standard-trained gooseberry plant will survive up to two or three days with its roots buried in some loose moist soil. Keep out of direct-sun.

Once planted in rich, moist soil provide a thick layer of compost on the surface around the plant which will keep the soil area warm and the roots stimulated for over winter.

Your 9cm potted plants of Goji, Honeyberry and Raspberry Black Jewel

Plants arrive to you in a 9cm (3 ½ in) pot with an already-established root network. The pot is wrapped in a polythene bag to keep the root area moist and kept in place with a layer of corrugated cardboard to keep it secured in transit.

This is further placed in a paper bag which is how it arrives to you. Simply remove all layers and replant to a larger container or in the soil bed, firming in well.

You can transplant containerised plants at any time of the year, just avoid transplanting into frozen soils in winter or in the height of summer in the midday sun.
