Thyme (Common)
An Excellent Little Aromatic Edging Plant!
Thyme is a pretty little spreading perennial herb with small scented leaves. Excellent for cooking with poultry, meat and game, and flavouring soups.
Growing a useful range of herbs from seed is so easy!
Grow them in the border among your flowers, in a special herb bed, or simply in pots by the back door. You can even grow some on your kitchen windowsill. They are easy to dry and even easier to freeze.

Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in warmth 10-15°C(50-60°F), and keep moist.
Growing on / thinning
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from bright sun. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost, or individually into small pots.
Hardening off / planting
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out from early summer onwards. Allow 45cm (18in) between plants.
