Abelia Grandiflora- 3Ltr Shrub
Abelia x grandiflorais a must have shrub for a mixed or shrub border in a cottage garden scheme. Not only does it produce flowers over a long period but is also semi-evergreen. Abelia x grandiflora has striking smooth, glossy, dark green leaves which are present for most of the year and then from June, it’ll be covered with masses of dainty, scented, pink/white, trumpet shaped flowers held on bowing branches that last all summer. Grow this Abelia in a slightly sheltered spot, against a wall if possible.
Dig a hole large and deep enough to take the plant’s root ball.
Gently tap the plant out of its pot without disturbing the soil around the roots.
Position the plant at the bottom of the hole so the plant’s crown is level with the surface and sits at the same depth as it was in the pot; make sure the roots are in direct contact with the soil.
Backfill with the excavated soil and firm in gently. Water to settle the soil around the roots.
Deadhead flowers regularly to encourage more to bloom. Shrubs are easy-care plants getting better every year with the minimum of fuss.
Watering: Water regularly in the first few weeks after planting and then make sure the plants are kept moist in dry spell; but don’t overwater .Plants will send their roots down in search of moisture as they grow.
Feeding: Give shrubs a boost with a handful of granular feed hoed into the soil in spring.
Pruning: most evergreens need minimum pruning. Deciduous flowering shrubs should be pruned to encourage flowers.
Lightly trim the flowering stems of Abelia grandiflora to keep the shrub neat. Remove dead or damaged wood in spring.
Protect: Keep pests and disease at bay with our range of bug killers and fungicides.
