Asparagus Ariane Crowns x5

£8.99 each

  • Will flower well in full sun
  • Hardy Perennial - sow indoors or on a seedbed (April-June); transplant later to flower for many seasons

Enjoy the big harvests of asparagus Ariane, bred to give you extra-long palatable spears perfect in the spring period to add that extra texture to enhance salads.

Enjoy harvesting spears after the first couple of years (in year 1 and year 2 simply enjoy the attractive feathery tactile ferns as part of your ornamental garden) when the weather is fair and warm from April. Cut spears to the base and make a clean cut for good gardening practice.

In year three cut spears for three-five weeks only then leave spears after to develop into those visually-impressive ferns. In following years you can afford to cut spears for an eight week period. For healthy and happy spears plant in a free-draining yet rich soil. We recommend you add a good amount of bulky rich compost to the soil before planting.

At delivery you receive your plants as crowns. At this stage they are a t the perfect stage in their development to give you fast-growing and well-establishing stems.
