Balcony Mediterranean Garden Plants Collection
Grow a collection of maximum-taste ingredients typical of a Mediterranean diet, all in one attractive container you can grow in your own garden; the Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest in the world and you can benefit from it without even leaving the house! Perfect.
You’ll get bumper harvests of dependable Aubergine Ophelia, Tomato Tumbling Tiger and Chilli Cayenetta. Bright, sun-ripened vegetables with maximum taste and maximum nutrition.
Decorative baby-fruited aubergine variety. Ophelia produces an abundance of beautiful, glossy, dark purple fruits. Great sliced, steamed and drizzled in olive oil.
Tomato Tumbling Tiger
Good-sized trusses of sun-ripened tomatoes is great news; you’ll be enjoying handfuls of great-flavoured tomatoes through the summer and even into autumn. Slice and serve with mozzarella.
Bright, vibrant and zingy. Pick a few chilli peppers off for mood-enhancing chilli kicks. Keep some on the plant to illuminate your Mediterranean container display.
We recommend you fill a (18in) 45cm diameter container with Easy Container Compost to around 2in (5cm) beneath the top of the container. Mark out the compost into three even sections. Plant the chilli pepper plant and the aubergine plant in the centre of two of the sections.
Plant the tumbling tomato plant near the edge of the remaining section so that the fruiting stems can tumble easily over the edge on the container for easy harvesting.
If you plant earlier than May, keep an eye on the weather to see if frosts are predicted. Simply place some protective horticultural fleece, which we supply at Marshalls, over the courgette plants in the evenings beforehand.
Keep well-watered after planting and you’ll be picking pretty courgettes every other day through the summer. Courgettes full of flavour and delicious fried with butter and oil.
How your plants arrive
You receive 3 young plants, 1 of each variety in one pack. Each of your plants arrive to you as young plants containing a ‘plug’ of soil with roots running through them and some small green stems and leaves.
Although they are little they are the perfect size to get growing fast once you plant them up.
Your plants will arrive to you in a sealed plastic wallet or container contained in a bubble-lined envelope or a box for larger orders. The sealed container allows your young plants to stay healthy by giving them an ideal air and root environment when it arrives to you.
Check your 3 plants are there in the plastic container, according to your order.
Can’t plant straight away?
If you cannot plant up your Mediterranean plants straight away into their permanent position make sure the plugs of your plants are kept moist at all times.
You can place your plants on a saucer or tray of water so the plugs are immersed at the beginning of the day. Keep an eye on them and take them out of the water once the soil is moist from absorbing the water beneath.
Keep your plants in a well-ventilated and light position in their plastic container after giving them water. Look to planting in their permanent position within 5-7 days.See Full Description +
