The Great British Garden Revival-Shrubs and Glasshouses
SHRUBS We have to agree with Matt that shrubs are such an underrated group of plants, but they are absolutely brilliant for keeping gardens colourful all year.
Whether it's the fabulous colourful stems of cornus or a winter interest shrub with brilliant berries and winter blossom, every garden can find a space for these hard working decorative plants!
Forget the image of a dreary, dark shrubbery and look forward to colour, scent and masses of wildlife all in one plant, the shrub!
Look at our new range and pick something sensational, from autumn until spring it is the perfect time to plant shrubs and roses.
GLASS HOUSES Also on Wednesday night's BBC2 programme Diarmuid Gavin lent a hand with making some cold frames, he has made plenty of show gardens so no wonder he looked a bit affronted when those gardeners suggested he make the tea!! But he acquitted himself well with the cold frame lids and in the end the guys at the allotment seemed genuinely pleased.
We also liked the little wardian case idea too- and with typical Diarmuid style his dinosaur(like it or not!) was a fun touch. Cold frames are a great idea whoever is making them, protection from the elements at this time of year is essential for many plants, especially young plants, even hardy ones.
Look at our cold frame pages to find one that is perfect for your garden.
