    What a difference a week makes! This weekend with its biting winds and snow, was in stark contrast to the last. Brrrr! I ventured out to the greenhouse to give the over wintering plants a drink and check on the few hardy seedlings inside and then scuttled indoors. Yes, I know it’s wimpish but honestly, there is little fun to be had in a grey, overcrowded greenhouse in minus temperatures.

    It was a lovely weekend in the east of the country and unusually for my part of the Fens there was no biting wind to contend with. Relatively mild temperatures and lots of sunshine tempted me outside to do some weeding and to check on the bulbs in the garden.

    I‘m planning to plant up some colourful spring containers this weekend. February can seem like the longest month, despite being the shortest! And it will cheer me up, as well as the garden, to see some bright colour in containers and in the border.

    I took some pictures of the veg plot on Saturday morning when everything was still tucked under a blanket of snow. Parsley, garlic and shallots were just peeping through and a few brave sweet Williams were showing their heads. But by Sunday morning the deep freeze effect had disappeared completely
