Caryopteris Sunshine Blue- 3Ltr Shrub
Caryopteris 'Sunshine Blue' is an all round good performer for a shrub or mixed border. It forms a compact mound of dense aromatic glossy yellow foliage about 50cm high. From late summer to autumn 'Sunshine Blue' creates a profusion of small fragrant blue flowers which will attract many species of wildlife including bees and butterflies. A perfect choice if a Buddleia is too big for your space. Although deciduous Caryopteris 'Sunshine Blue' has more than enough character to make up for it the rest of the year with a flurry of late colour for your garden, it’s also an excellent shrub for drought tolerance.
Dig a hole large and deep enough to take the plant’s root ball.
Gently tap the plant out of its pot without disturbing the soil around the roots.
Position the plant at the bottom of the hole so the plant’s crown is level with the surface and sits at the same depth as it was in the pot; make sure the roots are in direct contact with the soil.
Backfill with the excavated soil and firm in gently. Water to settle the soil around the roots.
Shrubs are easy-care plants getting better every year with the minimum of fuss.
Watering: Water regularly in the first few weeks after planting and then make sure the plants are kept moist in dry spell; but don’t overwater .Plants will send their roots down in search of moisture as they grow.
Feeding: Give shrubs a boost with a handful of granular feed hoed into the soil in spring.
Pruning: most evergreens need minimum pruning. Deciduous flowering shrubs should be pruned to encourage flowers.
Prune back flowering stems of Caryopteris in spring, cutting back to within two buds of the main stem. On established shrubs remove any weak stems back to the base in spring.
Protect: Keep pests and disease at bay with our range of bug killers and fungicides.See Full Description +
