Add Katsura tree Cercidiphyllum japonicum to your garden for a permanent planting. Every leaf is heart-shaped, starting in spring with a coppery hint and turning butter-yellow. Your tree is naturally multi-branched, forming an attractive framework.

As the leaves develop over the summer they emit a rare and pleasant scent of toffee apples, often more emphasised in a strong breeze.

It is in autumn however when the Katsura really comes into its own. The pleasant, buttery leaves turn wonderful shades of yellow, pinks and oranges and bring your autumn garden to life. This wonderful spectacle takes place every year and is sure to turn heads.

Your plant arrives as an established 4L container tree ready for you to put in the ground on arrival. Should you need to wait a few days before planting, keep your Katsura tree in a shady position and give it plenty of water.

Useful tip:

You can plant your 4litre tree directly in the ground with plenty of well-rotted manure incorporated into the soil and it will reach 12m (32ft) in around 15 years. Alternatively grow the Katsura tree in a large container 40+cm (16+in) in diameter with lots of rich soil which will restrict its height to a more manageable 2-3m (6 ½-10ft).
