Introduce British-bred, rare soft fruit Chilean guava Ka Pow. Easy to grow despite its exotic name this fruit is like a blueberry in growth and like a wild strawberry in flavour. A favourite of Queen Victoria the Chilean guava is a hardy plant to temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F) – perfect for UK growing. All fruits start off as pretty and fragrant white flowers which look beautiful by the leathery green leaves.

Reaching 1.5-2m (5-6 ½ ft) in height Chilean guava shrubs grow well in containers, handy if you grow your crops in containers on the balcony or directly in the ground.

We recommend you plant in rich neutral to ericaceous soil if growing in containers. Enjoy a plant decorated in evergreen leaves and slightly scented. Plus you can look forward to evergreen leaf displays for an ornamental display through the autumn and winter.

Fruits are revealed in big numbers on every shrub from flowers that bring in useful insects that pollinate the flowers of fruit blossoms from strawberries to nearby apples and cherries.
