Dwarf French Bean Plants - Satelit

£7.99 each

  • Good in pots and containers
  • Will flower well in full sun

Great-tasting stringless white-seed bean. Produces uniform and easy-pick straight beans approximately 6in (15cm) long. Satelit is a variety with cold tolerance for early-cropping. Pods are held up and away from the foliage for easy pickings of handsome harvests. Stringless beans means more appeal to young children and getting healthy stuff into their bodies.

Disease resistant to common mosaic virus and anthracnose disease- all you need to know is that you’re safe in the knowledge that this variety will provide you lots of healthy, disease-free beans.

We recommend you position 3 young plants outdoors in their permanent position of flowering and fruiting. Space plants 6in (15cm) apart when you place them outside.

Expect a bowlful to colander-ful of bean pods per plant for the season. If you feed your plants with a potash-rich feed like Westland Sulphate of potash, when your plants are in flower – you may get even more beans.

Keep an eye on the weather. If it’s forecasted a particularly cold night with frosts, cover your plants over with a horticultural fleece, which we provide at Marshalls, in the evening to give them that protection from the cold.

This climbing variety grows to around 18in (45cm) tall so you may need to support with canes and strings around the plants.

How your plants arrive

You receive 3 young plants in one pack. Each of your plants arrive to you as young plants containing a ‘plug’ of soil with roots running through them and some small green stems and leaves.

Although they are little they are the perfect size to get growing fast once you plant them up.

Your plants will arrive to you in a sealed plastic wallet or container contained in a bubble-lined envelope or a box for larger orders. The sealed container allows your young plants to stay healthy by giving them an ideal air and root environment when it arrives to you.

Check your 3 plants are there in the plastic container, according to your order.

Can’t plant straight away?

If you cannot plant up your bean plants straight away into their permanent position make sure the plugs of your plants are kept moist at all times.

You can place your plants on a saucer or tray of water so the plugs are immersed at the beginning of the day. Keep an eye on them and take them out of the water once the soil is moist from absorbing the water beneath.

Look to planting in their permanent position with 5-7 days.
