Extra Early Wight Garlic Bulbs
- Easy to plant in a deep container or direct in a bed
- Copes well over winter when you plant straight away
- Perfect sliced and fried as garlic crisps
Extra Early Wight is the variety for you when you want garlics that come out of the ground fresh as the driven snow, to show off your growing prowess. It’s the taste that truly excels with Extra Early Wight, fresh and with a unique flavour we recommend you slice cloves and light fry them. They keep their shape on cooking and intensify in flavour.
This hardneck variety of garlic (bulbs produce a hard central stems in the middle of the cloves) gives you plump and generous-sized cloves, excellent for slicing.
How to plant:
Break up the two bulbs into separate cloves. Get the soil ready by raking the area after scattering the granules of some pre-planting Onion, Garlic and Shallot Feed over the area. See the pack for rate of use. Prod your thumb (or dibber) 2.5cm (1in) deep into the soil 10-15cm (4-6in) apart and drop in the cloves. Back-fill the holes with soil, and water the area each day until the winter.
Just got a small garden? No problem:
You can plant in containers too, but they need to be deep; fill a container at least 30cm in depth (12in) with multi-purpose compost and plant 2.5cm (1 in) into the soil. Look after as advised above.
Be sure to keep weeds away as your garlic plants grow to give your plants top levels of water, light and nutrients for the maximum-sized bulbs.See Full Description +
