Fritillaria meleagris Mixed - Snake's Head Fritillary Bulbs

£4.99 each

  • RHS Award of Garden Merit
  • Will flower well in full sun
  • Hardy Perennial - sow indoors or on a seedbed (April-June); transplant later to flower for many seasons

Fritillaria meleagris bulbs send up beautiful, intriguing chequered flowers in unusual colours, ranging from pinkish-purple through to deep purple. Together with some contrasting whites; they really do look as if they've been made from snakeskin.

Unlike most bulbs fritillaria meleagris thrive in moist soils and are found naturally in water meadows

Suitable wild habitats for our native Fritillaries have declined significantly over the years but as they grow well in any moist soil, you can help save them by growing some in a damp spot in your garden.
Left to self seed, over the years they will colonise.

How you receive your bulbs

You receive our spring-flowering bulbs in autumn in a plastic mesh. This is to keep the bulbs together in a pack which is nice and airy – perfect to keep the bulbs healthy while in transit.

Can’t plant straight away?

Keep your bulbs in a cool, light and dry place and preferably hanging on a hook so that air can get to the bulbs at all angles. Look to planting your bulbs within a week of receiving them.
