This grass-like bedding plant is a joy to gardeners with its golden-green leaves that shimmer in the sunlight and move in the wind. Otherwise called the Japanese forest grass the leaves shimmer together making the plants look like they are moving- great for making your garden look like it is animated and alive.

Suitable for growing in pots we recommend you plant spring or summer-flowering bulbs first so an injection of colour complements the gold-leaved backdrop of Hakonechloa macra Aureola.

This popular plant is used extensively in show gardens, especially in calm and serene Japanese gardens as its sound and visual impact are a pleasure to the senses as the leaves catch the breeze.

Useful Tip:

Plant in containers or flower beds and let the leaves form a beautiful golden backdrop to nearby flowers whether bedding or perennials.
