Bearded irises elegant flowers appear in early summer, they may look exotic but they are extremely hardy and once planted they’ll come back every year. Lay the rhizomes horizontally and plant them very shallowly in a sunny site to encourage strong, free-flowering plants.

Flowering in early summer Bearded Iris add elegance and grandeur to any border. The very large blooms are held on sturdy stems above fans of sword-like leaves.

They may look exotic but they really are extremely hardy and will return year after year for your pleasure and enjoyment, these superb varieties can also be used for cutting.

Supplied as rhizomes which can be planted straight into the ground, plant them in a horizontal position and very shallowly - at least half the tuber should be above ground exposed to sunlight as this helps provide food for strong plant growth and flower production.

How you receive your bulbs

You receive our spring-flowering bulbs in autumn in a plastic mesh. This is to keep the bulbs together in a pack which is nice and airy – perfect to keep the bulbs healthy while in transit. 

Can’t plant straight away?

Keep your bulbs in a cool, light and dry place and preferably hanging on a hook so that air can get to the bulbs at all angles. Look to planting your bulbs within a week of receiving them.
