Mange-tout pea 'Golden Sweet'

£6.99 each

  • Will flower well in full sun

New to 2016. Colourful climbing variety of mange-tout with attractive purple flowers, yellow pods and yellow/red tinged leaf nodes. Lovely for adding colour to the back of borders, growing up a trellis.

When transplanting young plants into containers or in beds to grow up a wig-wam structure or similar, water well mornings or evenings, or indeed both times of the day if the weather is warm and dry, and/ or breezy.

Enjoy these colourful plants as part of an ornamental display. The purple flowers contrast well with the red-tinged leaf nodes and green leaves.

As a leguminous plant, ‘Golden Sweet’ will introduce nitrogen into the soil on account of its nitrogen-fixing nodules which is great news for stem-growth of perennials and other flowers that are growing in the same bed.

After the colourful display enjoy harvests of yellow pods from August and into September. An excellent plant to introduce to your garden for a colourful display as well as a crop of mange-tout peas towards the end of summer.
