Marigold Vanilla - Plants
- Extra large flowers
- Great for edging a garden
- Use in all garden styles
African marigold Vanilla is an F1 hybrid annual bedding plant with large pom-pom flowers that look like scoops of vanilla ice-cream, appearing in abundance on small compact stems with indented leaves, pleasantly fragranced and reminiscent of a country garden.
Consider this variety for a sunny part of your garden. Marigold Vanilla will produce lots of big bold flowers when you plant them in a rich loamy soil or in multi-purpose compost. A reliable variety, resistant to stem rot and flower bud rot.
Plant in sheltered or windy sites and your flowers will reward you given they have moist soil at all times. Marigold Vanilla is beautiful in cottage gardens, containers and courtyard gardens.
It’s also an idea to grow in a vegetable plot near tomatoes. This is because the marigold scent deters whitefly which attack the leaves of tomatoes affecting the fruit growth.
Easy to plant up, space plants 20-30cm apart if planting in a row. If planting in containers plant 6-8 plants, evenly spaced, for every container.
Marigold Vanilla plants reach 30cm (12in) and spread to 25cm (10in) in around 1 month from planting. It flowers from May before full maturity.See Full Description +
