Narcissus 'King Alfred' is one of the oldest daffodil varieties.

'King Alfred' is well over 100 years old but this large-flowered daffodil still has a real presence in the garden with its huge golden yellow flowers and twisted, overlapping petals.

Plant bulbs roughly twice their depth into free-draining soil in a sunny or part shaded site.

Deadhead spent blooms and allow foliage to die down naturally once flowering ends.  This helps to divert goodness back to the bulb for a great display next year.

How you receive your bulbs

You receive our spring-flowering bulbs in autumn in a plastic mesh. This is to keep the bulbs together in a pack which is nice and airy – perfect to keep the bulbs healthy while in transit.

Can’t plant straight away?

Keep your bulbs in a cool, light and dry place and preferably hanging on a hook so that air can get to the bulbs at all angles. Look to planting your bulbs within a week of receiving them.
