Narcissus 'Rip van Winkle' - Daffodil Bullbs

£7.99 each

  • Good in pots and containers
  • Will flower well in full sun
  • Hardy Perennial - sow indoors or on a seedbed (April-June); transplant later to flower for many seasons

The unusual, multi-petalled flowers of this dwarf narcissus variety make Narcissus 'Rip van Winkle' unique amongst  daffodils- and unlike its fairytale namesake this particular Rip van Winkle will come awake every year not just after 20 years!

The superb pointed double flowers are perfect for a sheltered bed or border. Team them with a spring flowering shrub such as Kerria japonica that has the same spikey golden flowers.

These daffodils also look magnificent planted in containers surrounded with trailing plants such as iviy or grow them with brilliant blue pansies or hyacinths.

Plant daffodils in autumn, planting them roughly twice their depth into free draining soil in sun or part shade.

For a natural look you could scatter the bulbs randomly, but this uniquely shaped daffodil looks its best planted in groups of fives and sevens.

Deadhead daffodils as the flowers go over and leave the foliage to die down naturally to help direct goodness back into the bulb for next year.

How you receive your bulbs

You receive our spring-flowering bulbs in autumn in a plastic mesh. This is to keep the bulbs together in a pack which is nice and airy – perfect to keep the bulbs healthy while in transit.

Can’t plant straight away?

Keep your bulbs in a cool, light and dry place and preferably hanging on a hook so that air can get to the bulbs at all angles. Look to planting your bulbs within a week of receiving them.
