A pot-friendly perennial leafy crop, easy for you to grow for nutrient-rich leaves over the whole summer. We suggest you pick little and often for a continual supply. In winter, bring your plants indoors to rest over the winter and bring outdoors again next season.

Standing up well to pests including slugs it’s a suitable crop for gardeners in the dampers areas of the country where slugs make an appearance in big numbers as soon as it’s damp.

Spinach-like crop that is resistant to mildew unlike regular spinach- great news for home-growers experiencing unpredictable summers of off-and-on rainfall and sunshine which can bring on mildew.

We recommend you grow New Zealand spinach in a hot spot and it copes well in drought conditions too, although it prefers moist soils. We recommend you pinch leaves or top 10cm (4in) of stems, which promotes plenty of side shoots to eat in salads. Alternatively cook as you would with regular spinach. In winter, bring your plants indoors to rest over the winter and the out once again next season.
