  • RHS Award of Garden Merit
  • Will flower well in full sun
  • Varieties that, in our selector's opinion, have exceptional flavour

Conference is the most known of all pears, it is excellent as a dessert pear but is also exceptional when used in cooking.

The fruits are long and bell shaped with very firm flesh, they can be eaten hard or fully ripe and have a smooth juicy flavour. The trees crop very late in the season from October to November, the fruit will store well into January.

You can enjoy pear conference at its best by picked it when it’s a little under-ripe, you can them store them in a cool place and bring them indoors to ripen slowly. The tree is grafted onto the ‘Quince A’ rootstock producing a moderate vigour and promote fruiting at an early age.

These pears grow strongly and are partially self-fertile but make the perfect planting partner for another pear variety in order to aid pollination and also to increase the yield.

If you have room for just one pear tree then you should really ensure there is another tree which is a suitable pollinator in a 2 mile radius, which there most likely will be.
