Penstemon Plants - Electric Blue
- True-blue trumpet flowers every year
- Elegant and sophisticated
- Long flowering period through the summer and the autumn
- Attractive to honey bees to add life to your garden
- Great for cut flowers
Add penstemon Electric Blue to wall-side borders or the centre of your flower bed for colour and easy elegance in your garden. Tall stems of beautiful intricate trumpet flowers last all summer and autumn. Long-lasting and free-flowering impressive Electric Blue even comes back year after year.
We recommend that you cut some of the flower stems off to place in vases in your home. They partner with other tall perennials and berrying plants like hypericum and beauty berry. Electric Blue looks great in containers as well and whether you plant them here or in beds they bring in bees and lacewings which keep pesky aphid numbers down in your garden.
Grow in a sunny part of your garden or a part of your garden that gets some sun throughout the day. We recommend that you position your five plants as a group, spacing the individual plants around 20cm (8in) apart if growing in a bed. We recommend you grow in a triangular formation if you want to grow them in a pot. Use good, rich compost and water well at planting.
In winter we suggest you put your containers in the greenhouse to keep your plants away from hard frost. If in the ground, either dig up the root system and put in a container to bring indoors or cover the stems bases with a double layer of horticultural fleece to keep the worst of the cold off the roots.See Full Description +
