Physocarpus Lady In Red- 3Ltr Shrubs

£16.99 each

  • Will flower well in full sun

Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Lady in Red’ is an excellent medium-sized deciduous shrub to include in your garden. If you’re looking for foliage colour other than green to include in your garden then this is the plant for you. ‘Lady in Red’ produces large, lobed, wine-coloured leaves which complement clusters of pretty pink flowers in summer.

Plant Physocarpus ‘Lady in Red’ in a moist, well drained soil in sun or partial shade and you’ll be rewarded with an extravagant display.

Dig a hole large and deep enough to take the plant’s root ball.

Gently tap the plant out of its pot without disturbing the soil around the roots.

Position the plant at the bottom of the hole so the bottom of the main stems are level with the surface and sits at the same depth as it was in the pot; make sure the roots are in direct contact with the soil.

Backfill with soil and firm in gently. Water to settle the soil around the roots.

Shrubs are easy-care plants getting better every year with the minimum of fuss.

Watering: Water regularly in the first few weeks after planting and then make sure the plants are kept moist in dry spells.

Feeding:  Give shrubs a boost with a handful of granular feed and hoe into the soil in spring.

Pruning:  Prune Physocarpus ‘Lady in Red’ to shape after flowering in mid summer.

On established plants cut out any congested stems and remove unwanted suckers.
