Tips & Advice:
Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth, 15-20°C and keep moist. Allow at least 3 weeks for germination.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, shading from bright sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost, or individually into 8cm pots.
Hardening Off/Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2 to 3 weeks before planting out 15cm apart, avoiding frosts.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow thinly in a seed bed, 5mm deep in well-prepared, pre-watered soil. Thin to 5cm apart when large enough to handle, then plant out into their final position from late summer, 15cm apart.
Advice
Flowering time depends on when the seeds are sown. Early sowings will flower the same year; later sowings will flower the following year.
