Rhubarb Crowns Collection - Timperley Early, Victoria & Fultons Strawberry Surprise
If you like rhubarb then this is the collection for you. We have put together three amazing and different varieties that provide both high yields and delicious flavours. Rhubarb is great for everyone from the first time grower to the hardened expert.
This unique looking plant first appeared approximately 400 years ago in the UK and has become highly prized for its distinctive flavour and sweet taste that complements a number of other sweet fruits for pies, cakes and juices. In this collection you will be able to try your own:
- Rhubarb Timperley Early – The variety for the earliest outdoor crops and also suitable for gently forcing. Succulent pink stems with a delicious tart flavour.
- Rhubarb Victoria – The Victoria has greenish red stems with tender flesh and an excellent balance of sweetness and acidity. This is a popular traditional variety that will produce a heavy crop once it has established and is emblematic of the British summer time.
- Rhubarb Fultons Strawberry Surprise – The Fulton is a strong and vigorous variety of rhubarb that produces flushes of eye-catching vivid red stems that have a well-balanced acidity. It has also been voted best flavoured at the RHS Wisley trials and also won the RHS AGM.
In order to get the best results from your rhubarb you will need to make sure that you can place them in a partially shaded spot in fertile, free-draining soil. They are a very hardy plant and can withstand frost and they will flourish without much attention, providing you with a bounty of rhubarb stalks.See Full Description +
