A lovely leafy salad plant, rare and intriguing with all parts edible. Pick the spinach-shaped leaves, having a nourishing nutty flavour, starting from baby leaves within the few weeks on germination and letting the plant grow so you can then pick the mature leaves with that give a bit of bite.

In summer these leafy plants reach 45cm (18in), come into flower and then fruit. Harvest the ripe red berries which are satisfyingly sweet.

After fruiting dig up the parsnip-like roots of strawberry spinach, wash them and enjoy them sliced for salads. Strawberry spinach does not transplant easily on account of its long taproot so we recommend you plant them directly into beds or containers where you plan to harvest them.

You receive plants in 12 multi-sown modules, ready for you to plant when you receive them and giving you more than a dozen crops to enjoy on your allotment or vegetable plot.
