Sweetcorn 'Mirai 160Y' Growing Chart
- Plant Outdoors
Our products are all grown with the utmost care and to high standards of quality. We regularly check our nursery stock to determine exactly when they will be at the optimum time for despatch.
We despatch our fresh, nursery-grown live plants (including vegetables, trees and flowers) when they are at a stage of growth ready for you, the customer, to plant on at home.
The delivery period shown on your order confirmation indicates when you can expect to receive your order and we will endeavour to despatch your plants in this period within 7-14 days
We placed an order for live plants and seeds with unwins. We had a dispatch notice for one plant, and this arrived fine. Later when we collected some missed deliveries from the post office we were surprised to find the remaining seeds all now dead. No dispatch notice, and the delivery had notes to leave the item if we were not in. Unwins have shunned their responsibility and told us there is nothing they will do about it, and were unbelievably rude on the phone. Take your chances that you will get good products with this company, because if anything goes wrong in transport they will try and leave you out of pocket. Stay well away, plenty of better alternatives that actually care.
great service - delivery fantastic
Sweetcorn 'Mirai 160Y'
New to 2016. Super-sweet type crossed with extra-tender type which has strong plants with extra thin skin over the kernels, tender enough to eat raw. You will notice the best flavour when it’s steamed.
Sweetcorn variety that looks attractive in a herbaceous border too and adds vertical interest, especially when in flower.
James Oakey Head of Horticulture sings its praises;
“I tasted this variety last year at trials and was blown away by its sweetness and tenderness. It’s a super sweet type crossed with extra tender type which has strong plants with extra thin skin over the kernels tender enough to eat raw. You will notice the best flavour when it’s barely cooked.”
Cobs are well filled to the end and are approximately 20cm (8in) long.
Do not plant near any other varieties of sweetcorn, to avoid cross pollination which will affect flavour and colour. Alternatively allow at least 14 day harvest interval between different crops.
Harvest approximately 75-80 days after transplanting young plants into soil.See Full Description +
