Enjoy the bold and attractive blooms of Tigridia pavonia Alba Grandiflora, a rare and exotic looking member of the lily family. Every flower has three large and perfectly-spaced broad white petals with mottled purple bases and a large style (the female reproduction spike) protruding from the centre.

Plant your seven bulbs in containers (we recommend about three in every 30cm (12in) diameter) filled with a special-formulated bulb compost and position them in a sunny position on the patio or balcony where these exotic-looking summer bulbs will thrive.

Alternatively place at the front of hot borders (these are flower beds filled with red, yellow and orange flowers like dahlias, lantana and cannas) that have rich yet free-draining soil. If your soil is shallow or dry we recommend you add a bag of Organic Farmyard Manure for every four square metres.

Useful Tip:

Want displays for longer than one season? Dig up the bulbs in November if it starts getting frosty outdoors. Rinse the soil off the bulbs and leave to dry in the sun for a few hours. Then place in a crate lined with newspaper and bury the bulbs in dry compost to keep the bulbs from drying out completely without being too wet. Over winter in the greenhouse or in a dry shed.
