Tomato Sweet Million (Cordon) - Plants
- Masses of fruit all summer
- Bursting with sweetness
Here’s the variety for you when you want sweet–tasting, mood-enhancing cherry tomatoes, but want to enjoy the unique fragrance of tomato leaves while they are growing and enjoy picking handfuls of extra-sweet and juicy fruit.
As a cordon your plants grow tall and upright which means they save on space, taking up the room vertically rather than horizontally. In an average-sized glasshouse of 3 metres (10 ft) in length you can enjoy up to six tomato Sweet Milllion plants growing up either side.
Indeed, enjoy the fragrance of the leaves, reminiscent of grandad’s vegetable plot and harvests from lots of generously fruiting stems. If growing in the greenhouse keep it well ventilated so flies and bees can fly in and out to pollinate the flowers.
Even if you don’t have a greenhouse you can grow Sweet Million in pots supported by central wigwams. We recommend you pinch off the little stems that grow in the crotches of the main stem and side branches. This encourages better-furnished fruiting stems from the rest of the plants.
When you receive your tomato plants by post, water lightly, then plant them up in small pots. If the stem tip is bent, rest assured, it will quickly right itself when exposed to daylight to grow straight and upright.
